Methodology & data sources

Sources

  • SEC EDGAR (XBRL company facts and 13F-HR filings): annual financial statements back 10–15 years, and superinvestor holdings.
  • Market data providers: delayed prices, dividends, analyst estimates and company profiles.
  • FRED (Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis): macro series.
  • SEC Form 4 (via OpenInsider): insider trades.
  • Nasdaq: earnings and IPO calendars.

Update schedule

Prices and market pages refresh several times each trading day. Each stock's fundamentals, estimates and filings are rebuilt at least daily. Every page shows the date of the close it reflects.

Calculations

  • Total return reinvests dividends. Periods over one year are annualized.
  • EPS and per-share figures are split-adjusted using each filing's date.
  • Free cash flow = operating cash flow − capital expenditures, from reported quarterly cash flows.
  • Report card: ten fundamentals (growth, margins, returns on capital, balance sheet, valuation, shareholder yield) each graded A–F against fixed thresholds and averaged to a GPA. It describes the business, not whether the stock is a buy.
  • Reverse DCF: solves for the starting free-cash-flow growth rate, fading linearly to terminal growth over ten years, that makes discounted cash flows equal today's enterprise value.
  • Fear & Greed Index: seven indicators (S&P 500 vs. 125-day average, 52-week highs vs. lows, breadth above the 50-day average, VIX term structure, junk vs. Treasury bonds, VIX vs. its 50-day average, stocks vs. long bonds), each ranked against its own last two years and averaged to 0–100.
  • 13F changes compare the latest filing with the previous quarter. 13Fs show long US equity positions only and are filed up to 45 days after quarter end.
